This page explains how to have your Automeet account and the personal data attached to it deleted. You can start the request from inside Automeet, or by email if you cannot sign in or no longer have the app installed. Both routes end in the same place.
1. Deleting Your Account From Automeet
If you can sign in, this is the fastest route and nothing has to go through us:
- Sign in to Automeet on the web or in the mobile app.
- Open your account menu and go to your account details page.
- Scroll to "Danger zone" at the bottom of that page and press "Delete my account".
- Confirm in the dialog. Your account is then scheduled for deletion 30 days out, and a banner shows the date with a button to stop it.
You do not need a password to confirm. Accounts created through a social or passkey sign-in may not have one, so the confirmation is the account email address instead.
2. If You Cannot Sign In
You do not need the app, and you do not need a working sign-in, to ask us to delete your account. Email support@automeet.com with the subject "Account deletion request" and include:
- The email address on the Automeet account.
- The name of any business you own on Automeet, if you have one.
- Whether you have lost access to that email address, so we know to verify you another way.
We confirm the request with the account holder before anything is scheduled. That step is deliberate: without it, anyone who knows your email address could have your account deleted. If you still have access to the account email, replying from it is enough. If you do not, we will ask you for details that match the account instead.
Once confirmed, your request follows exactly the same path as one started in the app: the same 30-day window, the same cancellation right, and the same removal described below. We email you the scheduled date.
3. Businesses You Own
If your account owns a business on Automeet, that business has to be closed before the account can be deleted. A business outlives any one person: its listings, its team and its records belong to the business rather than to you, and deleting an owner out from under it would strand all of them.
Close a business from its own Settings page. When you ask to delete your account in the app, the refusal names every business that is still open and links straight to the page that closes each one. If you cannot sign in, say so in your email and we will handle the closure and the deletion together.
Being a member or an employee of a business someone else owns does not block anything. Only ownership does.
4. The 30-Day Window
Nothing is removed on the day you ask. For 30 days your account stays exactly as it is: you can sign in, your listings stay up, and your messages keep working. The date the account will actually be removed is fixed when you make the request and does not move.
You can stop the deletion at any point in those 30 days, with no explanation needed. Press "Keep my account" on the banner that appears across the site, or on your account details page, which always shows the way out even if you dismissed the banner. If you asked by email, reply to us instead. We also email you a reminder 7 days before the date.
After the 30 days have passed, the removal runs and cannot be undone. We cannot restore a deleted account, and neither can our support team.
5. What Is Removed
When the 30 days are up, we permanently remove:
- Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth and the rest of your profile details, replaced with placeholder values.
- Your phone numbers, addresses and linked social media accounts, deleted outright.
- Your profile photo, cover photo and any documents you uploaded, including the stored files themselves.
- Your saved favourites, search history, recommendation history and push-notification subscriptions.
- Every password we ever stored for the account, and every active session. Sign-in stops working.
- Your personal listings, car builds, showcases and events, taken down from the site.
- Your name, email address and phone number wherever a business holds them about you: an appointment you booked, an enquiry you sent, a customer record, a survey you were sent.
6. What Is Kept, and Why
We would rather tell you this plainly than let "deleted" imply more than it does. Some records cannot be erased, because they do not only describe you:
- The account record itself remains, carrying placeholder values instead of your details. Records that belong to other people and to businesses point at it, so the row is kept empty rather than removed.
- Listings you created on behalf of a business stay with that business. They are the business inventory, not yours, and an employee closing a personal account must not empty a dealer catalogue.
- A business keeps its own record that an appointment or an enquiry happened, with your contact details removed from it. It is their record of work they did.
- Reviews you wrote stay published, no longer attributed to you by name.
- Records we are required to keep for legal, tax, regulatory or fraud-prevention reasons stay for as long as the law requires.
Two clocks are involved and they are not the same. The 30 days are how long you have to change your mind before the removal runs. Separately, as our Privacy Policy states, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days of the account closing, except where we must retain it for legal, regulatory or fraud-prevention purposes; listing data may be retained in anonymized form for analytics. The 90 days cover residual copies, including backups, that age out after the removal itself has run.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
Asking to delete your account cancels any paid subscription at the end of the period you have already paid for. It keeps working until then, and you are not billed again. We do not refund the remainder of a period already paid.
If you stop the deletion within the 30 days, we reactivate the subscription we cancelled on your behalf. If you had already cancelled it yourself before asking to delete the account, we leave that decision alone.
