Privacy Policy

Effective:

Automeet ("we," "us," or "our") operates an online automotive marketplace at www.automeet.com where users can post listings for vehicles, parts, services, car builds and build showcases, events, and other items, and connect with one another. Automeet does not handle, process, or facilitate any financial transactions between users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use our platform. By accessing or using Automeet, you agree to the practices described herein.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account registration data: first name, last name, date of birth, state and city, phone number, email address, password, and profile image.
  • Sex (optional, provided at your discretion during registration).
  • Business account details: business name, address, and business type.
  • Listing content: anything you post as a listing, of any type the platform offers (vehicles, parts, services, car builds and build showcases, events, and uncategorized listings), including descriptions, photos, pricing, and condition information.
  • Communications: messages sent through our in-platform messaging system, support inquiries, and feedback.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and browser information: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
  • Usage data: pages visited, search queries, listings viewed, time spent on pages, and click patterns.
  • Location data: approximate location derived from IP address; precise location if you grant permission.
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 6).
  • Marketing attribution data: the campaign parameters (UTM tags) present in the link you arrived through, stored on your device so we can tell which campaign or referral brought you to the platform.
  • Transaction and interaction logs: subscription purchases, listing activity, messaging history, and notification interactions.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Google Analytics collects aggregated, anonymized usage data about how visitors interact with our platform (pages visited, session duration, general location). We do not receive personally identifiable information from Google Analytics. It only runs if you allow Analytics cookies; if you decline, it is not loaded at all.
  • The Meta pixel measures whether our advertising led somewhere useful and helps Meta show our ads to people with similar interests. It only runs if you allow Advertising cookies; if you decline, it is not loaded at all.
  • We count views and impressions on listings ourselves, so the person or dealership who posted a listing can see how it is performing. This measurement is first-party: it stays within AutoMeet, it is never sold, and no other company receives it. Because it is part of the service we provide to sellers, it is not optional.

1.4 Lead Information

When you contact a business through the platform, we create a lead record so that business can follow up with you. A lead contains only the account information you have already chosen to make public: your name, profile image, phone number, and email address. Contact details you have marked as private are not included in a lead and are not shared with the business.

1.5 Information Collected Through Our Mobile Apps

Our iOS and Android apps are the same service delivered inside a native app rather than a browser tab, so everything described above applies to them as well. A phone can do a few things a browser cannot, and this subsection covers those.

The apps ask your device for permission before using any of the following, each one only when a feature needs it. You can decline any of them and keep using the app, and you can change your mind later in your device settings:

  • Camera and photo library: used only to attach photos to a listing, a car build, or a message. We receive the photos you choose, and nothing else from your library.
  • Location: used to show listings, businesses, and events near you. Declining it means results are not sorted by distance; nothing else changes.
  • Notifications: used to deliver the alerts described in Section 6 of the Terms of Service, such as a new message or a lead.

When you sign in on a mobile app, we register a push notification token for that installation with Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) so that notifications can reach that specific device. The token identifies the app installation rather than you, and it is not used for advertising. Signing out deletes it immediately. If you uninstall the app instead, we delete it the next time we try to send a notification to that device, which is when Apple or Google tells us the installation is gone.

Some information stays on your device rather than reaching us. Your sign-in tokens are held in the device secure storage provided by the operating system (the iOS Keychain, or encrypted preferences on Android). If you start a listing before creating an account, the photos you picked are held on the device only until the listing is created, and are discarded if you abandon it.

The mobile apps do not load Google Analytics, the Meta pixel, or any advertising software, and they set no cookies for those purposes. Subscriptions, boosts, and credit packs are neither sold nor advertised inside the apps, and the apps do not link anywhere that sells them. A plan you already hold works in the app; to start or change one you use our website directly, and Apple and Google are not parties to that purchase. Downloading or updating an app is handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create, maintain, and secure your account and business profiles.
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing.
  • Enable you to create, manage, and respond to listings of every type the platform offers.
  • Facilitate in-platform messaging and notifications between users.
  • Create and route leads so a business you have contacted can respond to you.
  • Verify identity and prevent fraudulent activity or policy violations.
  • Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries, handled internally by our team.
  • Personalize your experience, including search results and recommended listings.
  • Analyze anonymized usage trends via Google Analytics to improve our platform's features and performance, where you have allowed Analytics cookies.
  • Send transactional emails (e.g., account confirmations, password resets, subscription receipts), managed internally.
  • Send marketing communications, if you have opted in.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

3.1 With Other Users

When you post a Listing, certain information (business name, listing details, photos, and general location) is publicly visible to other users. Your contact information is only shared when you initiate or receive a message through our platform, or when contacting a business creates a lead, in which case the business receives only the details described in Section 1.4. Automeet does not facilitate or process financial transactions between users.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share data with a limited number of trusted third-party providers who assist us in operating our platform, including:

  • Payment processors for subscription billing.
  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers.
  • Google Analytics, which collects anonymized usage data via a standard tracking header, and only where you have allowed Analytics cookies. Google's data use is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Meta (Facebook), through the Meta pixel, and only where you have allowed Advertising cookies. Meta's data use is governed by Meta's own privacy policy.

We do not share your data with third-party email delivery services, notification platforms, or customer support tools: these functions are handled entirely by our internal team. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only as directed by us.

3.4 Business Transfers

If Automeet is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice on our platform before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or fraud-prevention purposes. Listing data may be retained in anonymized form for analytics purposes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your data.
  • Objection: Object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing.
  • Opt-out of marketing emails: Use the unsubscribe link in any email or update your notification settings.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@automeet.com. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We divide cookies and similar technologies into three groups. The first is required for the site to work at all. The other two are optional, and neither is loaded until you allow it.

  • Strictly necessary. These keep you signed in, remember your language and theme, and let us count listing views and impressions for the seller who posted them. That view measurement is first-party: it stays within AutoMeet, is never sold, and no other company receives it. Because these are part of the service itself, they are not optional.
  • Analytics (optional). Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people visit and how long they stay. If you decline, it is never requested and sets no cookie.
  • Advertising (optional). The Meta pixel, which measures whether our ads led somewhere useful, together with the click identifiers Google and Meta attach to an ad you followed here. If you decline, the pixel is never requested and those identifiers are not stored.

We ask on your first visit and remember your answer. You can change it at any time, including withdrawing consent you previously gave, from the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer. Withdrawing is as easy as granting: we delete the cookies the relevant service left behind and reload the page so it stops running. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.

This section describes our website. Our iOS and Android apps carry none of it: they load no analytics or advertising software at all, so there is no consent to give and no cookie banner to answer. See Section 1.5 for what the apps do collect.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), password hashing, and access controls to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

8. Children's Privacy

Automeet is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at support@automeet.com if you believe a minor has registered on our platform.

9. International Users

Automeet is operated from the United States. If you access our platform from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using Automeet, you consent to this transfer. We will apply appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide additional notice via email or a prominent in-platform notification. Your continued use of Automeet after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
